Institutions, Companies and Citizens, we are all concerned!
Together, let’s invent the urban mobility of the future.
Europe is committed
“The Urban Innovative Actions Initiative provides urban areas throughout Europe with resources to test new and unproven solutions to address urban challenges. Toulouse Metropole with the COMMUTE project will test various measures to tackle the challenge of congestion to its airport area, where a large number of jobs are found.
Its innovative combination of governance, corporate mobility management, transport technology and infrastructure investments, will contribute to new and more sustainable mobility modes and patterns for a large number of employees in the city”
Tim CAULFIELD
Director of UIA (Urban Innovative Actions) Programme
COMMUTE’s background
Toulouse and its metropolitan area have the highest population growth and hold the record for job creation.
Despite the efforts made in public transport and infrastructure/roads, the urban congestion remains a major issue. Airport and aeronautical areas, the scope of the COMMUTE project, are a striking example.
COMMUTE was born from the COMMON will, between public and private actors to reconcile the attractiveness of the territory with mobility, in particular by facilitating the use of means of transport that minimize environmental impacts.
How can we ease traffic flow, reduce environmental impact and improve quality of life? Following a co-construction work, Toulouse Métropole and its partners, have decided to deploy a new collaborative urban mobility management.
A participative and innovative management model!
Objectives
- EASING MOBILITY in the airport and aeronautical areas.
- SUPPORT THE ATTRACTIVENESS of this territory due to the strong economic dynamics in this employment sector.
- REDUCING POLLUTING EMISSIONS and conserving air quality.
- IMPROVING QUALITY OF LIFE of residents and employees by reducing stress, promoting sharing and social bonding.
- PERENNIZE THIS MODEL to extend it to other regions.
Actions
COMMUTE is experimenting with many actions aimed at decongesting the airport and aeronautical areas.
- Professional levers:
- Teleworking
- Modulated schedules
- Video & audio conferencing
- Mobility levers :
- Bikes
- Carpooling
- Car-sharing
- Autonomous shuttle
- Intermodal Interchange center
- Equipment levers (public and private):
- Carpooling parking
- Charging stations for recheargeable vehicles
- Co-working spaces.
